Cal Poly student dies, tests negative for COVID-19

KEYT

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly is mourning the loss of a first-year business student who recently passed away.

Luke Fradin from Hidden Hills died earlier this week in Los Angeles, University President Jeffrey D. Armstrong said in a letter to students and faculty.

Fradin became ill in mid-March and was tested for COVID-19 after exhibiting symptoms similar to the disease. The results of that test came back negative, Armstrong said.

The cause if Fradin's death remains under investigation.

The university has been in contact with the Fradin family to offer support.

"Luke’s sudden and tragic passing is devastating news to share. The university remains in contact with Luke’s family to offer our support, and our thoughts are with them and Luke's friends during this difficult time," Armstrong said in the letter.

Additional information will be provided on the university's student memoriam page.
