SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo Police Department is investigating after a threatening message was found in the bathroom of a local school.

Students at Laguna Middle School discovered the threatening note in the girls restroom Monday evening.

The message read "School Shooting 12-02-19" and was written on a mirror in the restroom.

The students notified school administrators who then contacted police.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is investigating and trying to find out who wrote the threatening message.

Although the credibility of the threat is unclear, the police department is taken the threat seriously.

School administrators say there were more than 100 students on campus at the time the message was discovered.

School staff and students have been informed of the message, police say. Procedures have been put in place to increase public safety until the investigation is completed and the incident is resolved.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the San Luis Obispo Police Department at 805-549-7867.
