SANTA YNEZ, Calif. – A man from Ventura County won a record-breaking jackpot prize of $1.3 million from a slot machine on Saturday night, claiming the largest jackpot in Chumash Casino Resort history.

The casino resort said the Ventura man, who wants to remain anonymous, also won a $556,000 jackpot at the slot machine next to this one in May 2023.

"I was just surprised and very glad," said the winner. "I’m going to pay for my grandkids’ tuition. And my granddaughter, who turns 16 in September, is going to get a new car."

The previous record jackpot at the Chumash Casino Resort was a $1,021,730 pull in 2014, said the resort.

Within this announcement from the resort, organizers also announced the return of a guest favorite, the Wheel of Winners promotion.

The drawings for a chance to spin the wheel for Slot Free Play prizes will run from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. every half hour on Thursdays, with five guests getting a chance to spin the wheel at 10:00 p.m.
