Santa Barbara City Fire is preparing homes for upcoming fire season

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Now is the time to prepare your home for fire season. Santa Barbara City Fire Department fire inspectors are helping those in the higher risk areas prepare. Crews will be chipping limbs, trees and overgrowth in the Circle/Westmont chip area will start Monday, May 24.

Fire officials have said establishing and maintaining good defensible space drastically reduces the chances a wildfire will destroy a home.
