Firefighters halt forward progress of vegetation fire just south of Lompoc

LOMPOC, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a vegetation fire that flared up south of Lompoc Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 1:26 p.m. off San Miguelito Road.

California Highway Patrol has closed San Miguelito Road at Willow Avenue in Lompoc.

At about 1:50 p.m., firefighters said this second-alarm brush fire was about 10 to 20 acres in size with the potential to grow to 200. The fire reportedly had a slow rate of spread.

Structures were no longer threatened as of 2:35 p.m. County Fire reports there are no damaged or destroyed buildings and no injuries have been reported.

By 5 p.m., forward progress of the fire was halted at 25 acres. All evacuation orders and warnings were lifted in the area.

Multiple SB County engines were on scene with assistance from Lompoc City Fire, the Los Padres National Forest and CAL FIRE. Aircraft also arrived to help knock down the fire and set up a containment line.
