Probation Department leads “Back to School” wellness checks

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – School supplies, blankets, toys and books are just some of the items officers delivered to families across Santa Barbara County.

Seven juvenile officers with the Santa Barbara County Probation Department conducted "Back to School" wellness checks on Tuesday.

Wellness checks applied to youth under community supervision, specifically focusing on preparation for the upcoming school year. Officers checked in with families, discussed plans for school attendance, and delivered care packages.

Care packages were created from the Santa Barbara County Education Office donations, providing families with the resources needed to prepare for the school year.

The community outreach program saw 38 homes receive 82 care packages and backpacks before the new school year.
