Arroyo Grande providing free WiFi for students at Elm Street Park
ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - The city of Arroyo Grande announced on Monday that all students in the Lucia Mar Unified School District will have access to free WiFi at Elm Street Park.
The WiFi is available to these students as they are beginning the school year with distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It will be password protected and available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Physical distancing and other safety measures are to be followed while using the service.
The city says this was made possible through a partnership with PeakWifi, allowing students to access free WiFi in an outdoor setting.
LMUSD estimates that about 200 families in the District do not have internet access at home, while others do not have sufficient bandwidth to support online learning.
