Ventura man arrested for DUI following car chase on Highway 126

VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura resident was arrested after attempting to evade police in a car on Highway 126 Saturday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., a Ventura Police officer was patrolling the area of Blackburn Road and Kimball Road when he saw a car make an unspecified illegal move.
The officer pursued the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, however, the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Juan Delarosa-Padilla, did not stop.
A pursuit ensued and officers chased Delarosa-Padilla westbound on Highway 126 from Kimball Road until he exited on Victoria Avenue in Ventura. Officers say Delarosa-Padilla reached speeds of 90 miles per hour during the chase.
After exiting on Victoria, the driver pulled over his vehicle in the 700 block of Webster Street. Police said Delarosa-Padilla appeared like he was going to give up, but suddenly fled on foot toward a nearby condominium complex.
A short time later, police said they received a call stating that Delarosa-Padilla was on the porch of a condo in the 700 block of Shaw Way. The condo reportedly belonged to an acquaintance of Delarosa-Padilla, but she was not aware that he was going to stop by.
Officers immediately went to the condo and was able to finally arrest Delarosa-Padilla after he forced his way into the residence.
Juan Delarosa-Padilla was arrested on charges of evading police, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license.
A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows that Delarosa-Padilla has prior convictions of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this incident.
