Suspect arrested for fatally stabbing man in Morro Bay
MORRO BAY, Calif. - Morro Bay police officers responded to the 1100 block of Allesandro Avenue regarding a possible disturbance around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday.
While on their way to the scene, the officers were informed that there was a victim being injured during a physical altercation.
Upon arriving, police located several people and determined that two men were involved in a physical fight in or near one of the storage units at the scene.
The victim, 58-year-old Andrew McTaggart was located by officers with a stab wound in his upper left chest area. First aid was immediately rendered to McTaggart before he was transported to an area hospital. He later died from his injuries.
The suspect, who police identified as 53-year-old Sean Maneely of Morro Bay, was found on the scene and immediately detained.
Morro Bay Police detectives and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Forensics Crime Lab then responded to the incident. During the investigation, they determined that the suspect and victim knew each other and may have gotten into a verbal fight which turned physical. Police believe no one else was involved in the fight.
Maneely was arrested and transported to the Morro Bay Police Department. He was booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on one count of homicide.
