CALABASAS, Calif. - Nine people were killed Sunday in a helicopter crash on a hillside in Calabasas, California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The sheriff's department received reports of the downed aircraft just after 10 a.m., they said in a tweet.

The flames have been extinguished, the department said. A pillar of smoke and wreckage remained on the hillside.

LA County Sheriffs said there were no survivors.

This is a developing story. According to ESPN, Kobe Bryant's 13-year-old daughter Gianna was one of the other victims in the helicopter crash. The ESPN source says the two were on their way to a travel basketball game. There may have been another player and parent in the helicopter as well.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department held a press conference around 2:30 p.m. in Calabasas to share the details they have so far on the tragic crash. The conference was held at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station on Agoura Road.
