Goleta Creek Week Art Contest Deadline Extended

GOLETA, Calif. (KEYT) — Local artists have a few more days to submit their work for Goleta Valley Library’s fifth annual Creek Week Art Contest.

The deadline has been extended to Saturday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. Artwork can be dropped off at the Goleta Community Center.

This year’s theme, “Story Beneath the Surface,” encourages artists to create pieces inspired by creeks, oceans and watersheds.

People of all ages and experience levels can participate using paint, colored pencils, photography or another medium of their choice.

Entries will be divided into adult, teen and children’s categories and judged on originality, appearance and connection to the theme.

Artists can also submit a short paragraph explaining the story or inspiration behind their work. Those descriptions will be displayed alongside the pieces during the Creek Week Art Reception.

The artwork will be on public display at the Goleta Community Center from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30.

The reception is scheduled for Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and will include the announcement of contest winners, refreshments and live music.
