Doctors say Brazil’s Lula is recovering after surgery for a brain bleed

SAO PAULO (AP) — Doctors say Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is recovering in an intensive care unit after undergoing surgery for a brain bleed. The unplanned procedure was performed after the 79-year-old leftist leader felt headaches that doctors believed resulted from a fall at home in October. The hospital on Tuesday said Lula was in stable condition, talking normally and eating. It said the president will remain under observation for the next few days.
