DENVER (AP) — A lawyer for the American founder of a Haitian orphanage who has been charged with sexual abuse revealed that his client was investigated but not charged by a grand jury about a decade ago. The revelation came in a court document filed Thursday by the attorney for Michael Geilenfeld. The 71-year-old Geilenfeld was indicted on Jan. 18 by a grand jury in Florida and accused of traveling from Miami to Haiti “for the purpose of engaging in any illicit sexual conduct with another person under 18.” He was arrested in Colorado on Saturday. His lawyer declined to comment on the allegations.
