ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Amazon has unveiled the first phase of its new headquarters complex in Virginia. The company cut the ribbon Thursday on a pair of gleaming, amenity-packed office towers. Amazon leaders hope the new space will persuade employees accustomed to working from home during the pandemic to happily return to the office. The grand opening of the Met Park office complex in Arlington marks the biggest milestone in the project since the company announced plans in 2018 to build in Virginia. While the first phase is open for business, the second phase has been placed on hold. The company still projects it will eventually employ 25,000 workers at the complex.
