Goleta City Council swears in two new members
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – The city government of Goleta has officially sworn city councilmembers Luz Reyes-Martín and James Kyriaco to serve the community.
Goleta held elections for district-based council seats this last election cycle for the first time.
Goleta City Council Districts 1 and 2 elected members to the council this year, while voters in Districts 3 and 4 will cast ballots for city council in the 2024 election cycle.

Goleta District 1 Councilmember Luz Reyes-Martín, a former member of the Goleta Union School District Board for eight years and former Executive Director of Public Affairs and Communications at Santa Barbara City College, took her oath Tuesday alongside family.
"From my professional background, I have a deep understanding of how city government should work, how it should be accountable to the community, and how essential thoughtful planning is to sustainable communities,” said Councilmember Reyes-Martín.
James Kyriaco is the Goleta Councilmember for District 2 and has served on the Council since 2018 as well as sat on local city commission boards.
Councilmember Kyriaco said, “I am gratified to be returning with the support and partnership of our community and look forward to our work together to provide opportunities for our residents, ensure fiscal responsibility and protect the quality of our neighborhoods."
