Work underway on stretch of Hwy 1 between Vandenberg & Guadalupe
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Work is underway on a stretch of Highway 1 between Vandenberg Space Force Base and Guadalupe.
The project begins near the entrance to the base and ends at the Highway 1 and Highway 166 intersection in Guadalupe.
Caltrans says the first phase of construction will take place between Solomon Road near Orcutt and Highway 166 near Guadalupe.
Caltrans is repairing pavement, resurfacing the road and installing rumble strips, striping and lighting. There will also be a new guardrail at the Railroad Overcrossing and the Solomon Creek Bridge.
Crews will be out Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Overnight work is also scheduled Sunday night through Friday morning from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
One lane will remain open during the project.
Drivers should plan for about a 10 minute delay at most.
The project also includes work between Clark Avenue and Vandenberg Space Force Base. Caltrans says details on that phase of construction will be released later.
The project is slated to cost $6 million and is expected to be complete in October.
