San Luis Obispo firefighters contain vegetation fire near Lopez Lake

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A vegetation fire was reported near Lopez Lake late Sunday night.

People said they could see smoke and flames from Vista Lago.

Firefighters said the fire burned about 3 to 5 acres in grass and brush.

The fire burned between the lake, a road, and a large parking area.

At one point, Cal Fire SLO said there was a potential for the fire to burn up to 10 acres.

Firefighters tweeted that forward progess had been stopped just after midnight on Monday.

Crews will remain at scene approximately three more hours for overhaul.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
