30,000 flowers will be given away for FREE in San Luis Obispo

Flowers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The California Cut Flower Commission is teaming up with Avila Valley Barn, Connected Communities LLC, and Ocean Breeze Farms to give 30,000 Gerbera Daisies away for free.

The flowers will be Donated by Ocean Breeze Farms in Arroyo Grande, this Thursday, April 2nd, at 3 p.m.

Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, a handful of retailers continue to buy flowers, but many grocery brands are canceling orders or turning fresh cut flowers away.

Without the ability to sell, Ocean Breeze Farms in Arroyo Grande was a day away from disposing of their entire Gerbera Daisy supply.

When Tyler Skinner of Connected Communities heard this news, she had an idea. Working tirelessly with Ocean Breeze Farms, California Grown Flower Commission & Avila Valley Barn, she created the first ever 30,000 flower giveaway!

Available starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 2nd, until they are gone, the Gerbera Daisies at Avila Valley Barn are FREE to the public.

Individuals are invited to stop by for a bunch, a bucket, or more… specifically to share with their loved ones, neighbors, senior centers, and anyone who needs a beautiful pick-me-up in their life.

To minimize contact, pick-up has been designed so you never need to leave your car.

Their dream is to place 30,000 flowers into the homes of Central Coast communities to spread a little joy and alleviate a little anxiety during these difficult times.

"I am a firm believer in community building.” Said Tyler Skinner, owner of Connected Communities LLC. “Being a part of this initiative by the CA Fresh Cut Flower Commission as a lead facilitator to help bring joy and thanks with flowers to the many working for our health and wellbeing is a great example of what we can accomplish when we work together. Connected communities is about finding ways to redirect our resources and use our own creative talents to address communities, businesses or industries that are adversely effected by the current global situation, and cohesively create unique outcomes."
