Morro Bay police arrest Bakersfield residents for identity theft

MORRO BAY, Calif. - Two people were arrested in Morro Bay for identity theft and having stolen property.

Morro Bay police stopped a driver around 8 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Atascadero Road. Officers said the driver didn't stop at a stop sign.

During the traffic stop, officers say they realized the driver had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Police say the passenger also had a felony warrant for her arrest.

Officers searched the vehicle and found stolen mail from Morro Bay businesses, stolen credit cards, counterfeit IDs, and counterfeit checks and $100 bills.

Police arrested Michael Aden Mahoney, 38, of Bakersfield and Holly Lynn Mahoney, 33, of Bakersfield.

They were booked for their outstanding warrants and face new charges related to identity theft, possession of stolen property, and counterfeit checks and currency.
