Man hit, killed by SUV at unmarked intersection in Grover Beach

GROVER BEACH, Calif. - Grover Beach police say a man who was hit and killed by a car Tuesday night was crossing the road near an unmarked intersection.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of North Oak Park Boulevard.

First responders arrived at the scene and found a man who had been hit by an SUV. Officers and medics tried to save the man's life, but he died at the scene.

Police spoke with the driver, who stayed at the scene, as well as several witnesses.

Police say the preliminary investigation shows the man was crossing the road at or near an unmarked intersection when he was hit.

Investigators say the driver of the SUV was not intoxicated.

Grover Beach police and the California Highway Patrol are in charge of the investigation.

Police say the name of the man who died will not be released until his family is notified.
