Planned burns taking place Thursday in Los Padres National Forest

KEYT

LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. - Smoke may be visible in parts of the Los Padres National Forest Thursday.

Firefighters said planned burns were taking place on all ranger districts across the national forest.

The fire department said these burns keep the forest healthy and lower the risk of future wildfires.

The Los Padres National Forest encompasses nearly 2 million acres of land across the state, including land in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties.
