CHP: 10 people killed, 271 arrested for DUI over Christmas holiday
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol says at least 10 people died during the agency's Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period.
The CHP conducted a 30-hour max enforcement, where additional officers are out on the roads, from 6 p.m. December 24 through 11:59 p.m. December 25.
271 people were arrested for driving under the influence.
CHP says a similar holiday enforcement effort will take place next week around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
