One person hospitalized following shooting in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria firefighters responded to a shooting Monday afternoon.

The fire department tweeted about the incident around 3:20 p.m.

Firefighters said they were responding to the 600 block of North Palisade.

One person had been shot and was being transported to Cottage Hospital in a CalStar helicopter.

Police were said to be investigating the shooting, and people were asked to avoid the area.
