Firefighters respond to small brush fire in hills above Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - Firefighters responded to a small brush fire in the hills above Ventura Monday.

The so-called Elizabeth Fire was first reported around 4 p.m.

The Ventura County Fire Department said crews were making their way to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. and that initial reports were it was a 20 by 20 foot brush fire.

Forward progress on the fire had been stopped by 4:20 p.m., but firefighters were expected to remain on scene to finish putting the fire out.
