Salvage barge arrives for dive boat Conception salvage operation

The Coast Guard shared video on Thursday of the barge they will use in the Conception salvage operation.

Crews are using remote operated vessels and side-can sonar to assist with search efforts for the last remaining person who was on the boat, according to a news release from Santa Barbara County.

Salvage efforts began Thursday afternoon. The US Coast Guard will oversee the operation.

Once the vessel is out of the water it will be transferred to a crane barge and taken by law enforcement to a secure location.

Groups including the National Park Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, and California Office of Spill Prevention and Response wil make sure there are no environmental concerns.
