Surveillance footage helps Santa Paula police arrest a man suspected of multiple burglaries

The Santa Paula Police Department has arrested a man suspected of multiple burglaries.

On Friday, March 22, detectives were investigating an attempted vehicle burglary on Coronado Circle and were able to identify Eric Caples ,41, as the suspect after reviewing home surveillance video.

Caples was arrested on Monday for the incident and violating his parole terms and conditions.

Officials also found Caples was in possession of stolen property, which was returned to the owner.

Investigators also connected Caples to two other 2018 cases where he was identified as the suspect in an unrelated vehicle burglary as well as a separate case using a stolen credit card.

According to officials, all three cases have been filed with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials say Caples is a convicted felon and has been convicted of burglary before.

Caples could face charges of attempted burglary, burglary, possession of stolen property, unlawful use of a credit card, and parole violation.

The Santa Paula Police Department asks anyone with further information related to any of these cases to contact Sergeant Allen Macias at 805-525-4474 extension 220.
