Dog reunited with owners after being separated during Thomas Fire

A golden retriever is back with its family after being separated due to the Thomas Fire.

Ventura County Animal Services shared the reunion on Facebook.

Ventura County Animal Services is one of many animal shelters providing displaced and evacuated animals a place to stay.

Hundreds of animals are currently in shelters due to the Thomas Fire. As space becomes more limited, neighboring shelters have offered to take in some adoptable dogs to make room for the displaced animals.

While most animals will be reunited with their owners, some will likely be in need of new homes.

Animal shelters throughout the state are in need of volunteers, pet supplies and donations.

Contact your local animal shelter to see how you can help.
