Employee at upholstery store in Santa Maria stabbed by former employee

Santa Maria police are investigating a stabbing that injured at least one person Tuesday afternoon.

An employee at Leo’s Upholstery located at 1118 W. Main Street was stabbed by a former employee, police said.

The former employee was fired about a month ago, according to authorities. The suspect allegedly ran across the street from the store and got into a black sedan after stabbing the store employee multiple times.

The employee was taken to the hospital with what police are saying are non-life threatening injuries, but they are still searching for the suspect.
