Fairview Gardens Children’s Farm Camp receives sponsorship donation

Dr. Patricia Bragg, a local businesswoman and health consultant, met with children attending the Fairview Garden Children’s Summer Camp in Goleta on Tuesday. Bragg made a generous donation that will help children who cannot afford to attend the summer camp.

Bragg also visited the new Herb Garden sponsored by the Bragg Health Foundation. The Foundation has had a long-standing supportive relationship with Fairview Gardens.

Fairview Gardens Summer Camp serves as a place for children to learn about organic gardening and how to build a connection with their food. Fairview Gardens also serves as a learning campus for interns during the summer where they live on site and learn different agricultural skills and food production mechanisms.

Fairview Gardens offers several many ways for volunteers and youth to get involved; there are spring break camps, summer camps, after-school programs, and college internships. There are also a Teen Permaculture apprenticeships offered as well as a Sprouts Infants and Toddlers program.

The center is currently in need of volunteers to assist in the gardens and fields, according to Fairview Gardens Executive Director Lacey Baldiviez. She also stated that Fairview Gardens has historical significance to the area and has been a center for learning for many years.

Baldiviez hopes that people will appreciate the learning opportunities and the wholesome environment that Fairview has to offer, inspiring people to want to volunteer. She invites locals to stop by and take a tour of the center and volunteer for a day.
