Unlicensed teen driver hits girl near Paso Robles High School

A teenager is in critical condition after getting hit by an SUV in Paso Robles.

Police have confirmed that an unlicensed 16-year-old boy was driving a GMC Yukon Wednesday afternoon and hit a 17-year-old girl.

She was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital by an ambulance.

Witnesses said the driver was speeding out of the Paso Robles High School parking lot when he lost control of his car along the 800 block of Niblick Road.

The SUV went up on the sidewalk and hit the girl before ultimately colliding with a utility control box. Paso Robles police said neither drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor in this crash.

The Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services, San Luis Ambulance, Pacific Gas and Electric, and Paso Robles Unified School District personnel all assisted with the investigation.
