Suspect Arrested in Oxnard Bus Stop Murder

Oxnard police have arrested and charged 36-year-old Oxnard resident Christopher Gaston with the shooting death of Christopher Camper.

Camper was killed on June 25 while he stood at a bus stop located at 1930 North Ventura Road.

Detectives believe Gaston drove up to Camper and shot him multiple times. Camper was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.

Police say Gaston fled the area in his car, which was described as a silver 1990’s Cadillac sedan.

The motive for the murder appears to be a longstanding personal feud over property, according to investigators.

Gaston was arrested on Wednesday at the Ventura County Jail where he was already in custody on an unrelated criminal offense.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide is asked to contact Det. Edgar Fernandez at 805-385-7645. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call the Violent Crimes Hotline at 805-982-7070.
