Police Continue Search for Suspects in Murder of Oxnard Resident

On January 14, 2015, 24-year-old Oxnard resident Jose Ramon Reyes Escobar was sitting in his car ready to go to work. At about 5:30 a.m., while parked in the 5200 block of Perkins Road, Escobar was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A year later, Oxnard police continue their search for suspects in the killing, and despite interviewing numerous witnesses and following several leads, they have not been able to identify any suspects or establish a motive for the crime.

However, authorities believe the public can help. “Investigators believe that there are people in the community that have information that can assist investigators in identifying the suspect in this case,” stated the Oxnard Police Department.

Investigators are asking anyone that has knowledge related to this murder to call the Violent Crimes Hotline at 805-982-7070, Oxnard PD Detective Jaime Miranda at 805-385-7680, or email at jaime.miranda@oxnardpd.org.

Additionally, you may call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect or suspects in a homicide case.
