Local Restaurants Not Showing Boxing Fight Because of Pay-Per-View Price
The fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is being referred to as the fight of the century.
Mason Frakes, bar manager, at Rooney’s Irish Pub in Oructt would like to show it, but like many other restaurants and bars in the area, he won’t because of the price.
Pay-per-view bases its cost off of the capacity of the place wanting to show the event.
“Because of our capacity here, it would cost us $8,000 to show the fight, which is just insane,” Frakes said.
Frakes also told KCOY 12’s Cory James he thought it would cost “maybe a couple thousand” and said they “would have considered” showing it if it was around that price.
Rooney’s seats a little more than 200, and the owner said the pricing for the fight is “actually double than what we would pay for the entire year for an NFL package.”
Frakes said if they were to pay the $8,000 pay-per-view is charging, it would come at a high cost for those coming in to see it.
