3 Murders in 3 Days in Oxnard

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating its third deadly shooting in just three days.

The most recent shooting happened at 8 Tuesday night when 28-year-old David Lara was shot in his La Colonia neighborhood on the 1200 block of Felicia Court.

Lara’s death follows two other shootings that left young Oxnard men dead.

Early Sunday morning, 31-year-old Jose Sainz was shot to death on the 4400 block of G Street in Oxnard. The second deadly shooting took the life of another man in his 30s on the 700 block of South Oxnard Boulevard.

“When we have one after another, after another in such a short period of time, it takes everything we have just to put things together. It is certainly too early to tell if one had something to do with another,” said Cmdr. Eric Sonstegard with the Oxnard Police Department.

The Oxnard Police Department is actively working on these three homicides along with two other murders that happened in late November. So far there have been no arrests in any of these cases.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Gordon Currie at (805) 200-4682. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call the Violent Crime Hotline at (805) 982-7070
