Storm Preparations Active with More Rain on the Way
Crews have been busy clearing drains, creeks, gutters, and beaches from debris that washed down during the last storm. High winds shredded some trees as well.
At Butterfly Beach, in Montecito the sand has been carved out. Large rocks and boulders make a leisurely walk difficult. A weekend wedding at the site was relocated due to the lack of sand.
“Yea, I was coming down for a little walk on a break from studying, and writing. I had to take the high road (on the street),” said Natalie Sanderson. She said, however we need the rain badly, after four years of drought. “I just hope everyone is safe. We need this rain. It’s a blessing.”
Many waterfront areas still have sand on the bike path and in the streets from the windy blast that came through Thursday. While there was some urban flooding, no major problems were reported in Santa Barbara.
