Fire Academy Students Test New Flashover Simulator

A new firefighter training lab has come to the Central Coast.

Thanks to a 1.4 million dollar anonymous donation, Allan Hancock College in Lompoc has a new Flashover Simulator.

Today’s fire academy students are part of the first class to test out the device.

A flashover is when a room gets so hot that even the gases in the air can cause a spontaneous combustion.

Fire Coordinator, Andy Densmore says a flashover can be one of the deadliest phases of a fire.
