Annual Fiesta Cruiser Ride Smaller This Year

One of Fiesta’s unsanctioned events wrapped up on Sunday.

The massive bike ride known as ‘The Fiesta Cruiser Ride’ was by most accounts a success this year as thousands made their way up State Street.

It starts and ends at Santa Barbara’s Stearns Wharf.

Police took an active role in the ride again this year and the results were positive.

“This year, we probably had about 3,000 bicycle riders as compared to last year when we had about 5,000 bicycle riders. Last year was the first year we took an enforcement stance on the event. It paid off because this year, everybody was very compliant. We probably only wrote about 25 citations today,” said Sgt. Mike McGrew.

Many riders said police were friendly and not too obtrusive.

Police also credit members of the bicycle community who they say helped them keep the ride safe and family oriented.
