Hundreds Rally in Support of Immigrant Children

Hundreds of people chanted and raised signs in front of the Port Hueneme Naval Base on Tuesday .

They all came out to deliver a message, that the immigrant children were loved and they were there to help.

“In there own country they know they don’t have a chance. So for me it just breaks my heart I can’t even imagine it,” said George Roberts from Ventura.

Those rallying were also concerned about the current welfare of the children, but speakers at Tuesday ‘s event assured the crowd the children are well cared for.

“I had the opportunity to go in this morning and the conditions in there are extremely clean and orderly,” said Vanessa Frank about an hour after touring the facility.

The protest attracted hundreds of people promoting the welfare of the children. It also attracted about a dozen people against it.

“We didn’t separate any of them. They separated themselves from their families. We feel they have to be rejoined, but they have to be rejoined in their own country,” said Robert Miller from Ventura.

“There is a right way and a wrong way of doing it and this is wrong. Everyone here is from somewhere else but we did it the right way, not sneaking across the border in the dead of night,” said Cathy Miller from Ventura.
