Mother and Toddler Injured in Hit and Run

A Santa Maria woman was arrested Tuesday morning after a hit and run that left a 25-year-old mother and her 2-year-old daughter with minor injuries.

Police say it happened just before 8:00 at Morrison and Depot when Guadalupe Espitia-Hernandez make a left turn onto Morrison, and hit Rosa Ramirez as she pushed her daughter through the crosswalk in a stroller.

Investigators say the 32-year-old Santa Maria woman drove off, but a witness followed her.

Police caught up with Espitia-Hernandez and arrested her in the 700 block of West El Camino. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on two felony counts.

Ramirez and her daughter were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
