Unlicensed Driver Hits Pedestrian in Santa Maria

An unlicensed driver is accused of running down a woman in Santa Maria.

Arturo Ramirez was arrested after allegedly hitting a 53-year-old woman who was walking across the street in a group. The woman suffered moderate and major injuries but they’re not considered life-threatening.

Police say Ramirez, who doesn’t have a license, didn’t yield the right of way as the group was crossing at Broadway and Bunny Street. He did remain at the scene.

The case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office requesting charges against Ramirez for failing to yield and for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
