Shaw introduced as head coach of Denver

He put UCSB men’s basketball on the map in the late 1980’s and now Brian Shaw finally gets his chance to make his mark as an NBA head coach. The Denver Nuggets introduced Shaw as their 20th head coach in franchise history.

Shaw played in the NBA for 14 years winning three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won two more with L.A. as an assistant coach under Phil Jackson. The 47-year old Shaw spent the past two seasons as associate head coach of the Indiana Pacers.

In 1988 Shaw was named Big West Conference Player of the Year as he helped UCSB secure their first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.
