Golf Course Crime

An early morning assault and hit and run in a golf course parking lot left one person injured.Ventura Police say it happened in the parking lot of the Olivas Links Golf Course.Investigators say Craig Colton was preparing for a round of golf when he noticed a man standing near his golf bag. Colton then noticed that his wallet was missing and chased the man toward the parking lot.The suspect got into a car but as he started to drive away Colton swung a golf club and broke the rear driver’s side window.Police say Colton’s son Matthew ran after the car to confront the suspect. But when he did, the driver did a u turn and ran into him before driving away.Mathew Colton was thrown onto the asphalt.The 30-year-old is being treated for serious injuries.The suspect described as a middle-aged white male was last seen speeding away in a small white crossover type vehicle.The Ventura Police Department is asking anybody with information to contact Sgt.
