Santa Maria Names New Police Chief

Ralph Martin is Santa Maria’s new Chief of Police.

City manager Rick Haydon made the announcement Monday. Martin has served as interim chief since early August.

Following a rash of officer involved shootings and a vote of no confidence, former Police Chief Danny Macagni was placed on administrative leave in August just days before he announced his retirement.

Chief Martin will be sworn in as the City’s new Chief of Police at the beginning of the December 18, 2012 City Council meeting.
