Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade

It seems that last night’s warm weather helped to welcome the crowds to the 60th Anniversary-A Diamond Holiday Downtown Holiday Parade. The traditional lighting of the 40-foot Douglas Fir Christmas tree kicked-off the event. Starting at State and Sola streets, the extravaganza paraded down to Cota Street.

Dozens of school marching bands, colorful floats, gliding gigantic balloons and engaging performance groups all kicked up their heels to usher in the holiday season. Its estimated more than 50-thousand spectators came out for the event.

Santa reigned over the magical evening in his sleigh. Grand Marshal and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Water Polo Player Kami Craig graced the festivities with her presence. The local girl who made good is an inspiration to many and is a fan of the annual event she says she wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
