SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Dozens of protestors gathered outside the Tesla dealership in Santa Barbara on Wednesday in support of the company and CEO Elon Musk, who has spoken out against California's 'Stay at Home' order.

This week, Musk said Tesla's factory in Alameda County would resume production, against county rules regarding the COVID-19 health crisis. He also told county officials if they were to arrest anyone for breaking the rules, it should be him.

On Wednesday, Alameda County agreed to allow the facility to reopen, with additional safety precautions.

The protestors in Santa Barbara, most waving American flags and wearing protective masks, applauded Tesla's example.

"They're standing up for their rights," said Keith Hudson.

Peggy Wilson, who organized the meeting, brought a sign reading "Thank you Tesla, All Businesses Essential." She says that business across the state should be allowed to reopen now if they do so responsibly, and that California's health restrictions are too aggressive.

“I mean, do you have to be Tesla—you know, super rich, Elon musk, SpaceX, all that, you know, to say ‘come and arrest me’—to get back to work? I mean, what about the small businesses?” she said. “And that’s what we need today: is courageous people to stand up and stand on our rights.”
