Final float building underway for El Desfile Historico on Friday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The final float building is underway for El Desfile Historico - the 2023 Fiesta parade set for Friday at noon in Santa Barbara.

In its 99th year, there will be about nine floats amongst about 75 entries. There will also be 32 carriages and eight equestrian groups.

Behind the scenes volunteers will be building the floats into the late night hours with special decorations and many live flower creations.

Buckets of flowers have been brought in for the event from Carpinteria growers.

Many of them are roses and lillies.

The parade will begin at noon on Cabrillo Blvd. and News Channel 3-12 will carry it live.
