Looking for the Helpers: Goleta brothers raise money to buy jump ropes for entire elementary school

As our area is faced with ongoing changes due to a growing pandemic, we are bringing stories of people doing good in the community during a time of uncertainty.

Help us look for the helpers!

Jumping For Joy

Three brothers in Goleta fulfilled their goal of raising enough money to buy a jump rope for every student at their elementary school.

We told you about the Bodenhamer brothers back in September. Titus, Solomon and Jeremiah (9, 7 and 6 years old) raised $3,500 to purchase around 400 jump ropes for the students at La Patera Elementary School.

On Monday, the boys made good on their promise and delivered the goods to school. Each jump rope has a card attached with written workouts both in English and Spanish.

The brothers started doing CrossFit workouts when the pandemic started and posting videos on their Instagram to inspire other students.

But, the realized that some of their classmates may not have equipment, or a space to exercise and that's where they got the idea to donate jump ropes.

So, that's when the Bodenhamer's started fundraising on their Instagram page and on GoFundMe.

Their fundraiser was such a big success that they raised enough money to donate jump ropes to a second school.
