Looking for the Helpers: Brothers raise money to buy jump ropes for classmates

As our area is faced with ongoing changes due to a growing pandemic, we are bringing stories of people doing good in the community during a time of uncertainty.

Help us look for the helpers!

Jumping for Joy

Three brothers from Goleta are trying to motivate their classmates to stay fit during the pandemic, one workout and jump rope at a time.

Titus, Solomon and Jeremiah Bodenhamer, 9, 7 and 6-years-old respectively, have been doing CrossFit workouts in their garage since COVID-19 started.

They post their exercise routines on Instagram to inspire others.

The young boys started thinking about some of their classmates who may not have a yard, or space to exercise, especially since most sports are canceled and parks are closed during the pandemic.

So they started raising money to buy every student a jump rope at La Patera Elementary School where they all attend.

The goal is to buy 400 jump ropes.

So far they've raised enough to buy 150 jump ropes.

The Bodenhamer boys started a GoFundMe page-Heart and Hamer.

They said once the jump ropes are handed out, they will program weekly workouts for the students.
