Dos Pueblos High School sends grads off with creative, star-studded ceremony
GOLETA, Calif. - As part of creative graduation ceremonies across the South Coast last week, Dos Pueblos High School offered a little bit of everything for its Class of 2020.
To follow health guidelines, seniors and their families mostly stayed in decorated cars that first paraded around the school before coming to the main parking lot.
The parking lot ceremony was projected onto the school's walls in order for everyone to see.
Graduating seniors also got some high-profile celebrity video shout-outs. Singer and UC Santa Barbara alum Jack Johnson recorded a message and played his song "Home" for the seniors. Johnson's wife used to teach math at DP, and the singer said he had "fond memories" of visiting the school's campus.
Pop superstar and local native Katy Perry also sent a congratulatory video message to the seniors. She admitted in the video that she attended Dos Pueblos, but only for one semester before leaving to begin her music career.
Chicago White Sox All-Star catcher and Dos Pueblos alum James McCann also sent a congratulatory video message to the Class of 2020.
Graduates then were able to hear their names called and walk across a stage in the parking lot.
