SLO Farmers’ Market looks for feedback on eventual reopening
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Thursdays in Downtown San Luis Obispo are typically bustling with people visiting the city's weekly Farmers' Market, but that hasn't been the case for weeks because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, organizers are reaching out to the community to find out what sort of changes people would like to see before Farmers' eventually reopens.
The Downtown SLO Farmers' Market launched an online survey this week asking for feedback as it begins plans for reopening.
The survey noted there is currently no set date for reopening the Farmers' Market, which has been closed since March 12. It said any decision to reopen would be made at the guidance of the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer.
The survey asks questions including if people would be more comfortable attending future Farmers' Markets with crowd control in place.
It also asked if people would be more inclined to go to the market if they had different options including pre-packed boxes of select produce for pick-up, a published shopping list so they could prepare ahead of time, runners who would do shopping for people and have everything ready for pick-up, or an option to pre-order from all vendors and pick up at a set time and place.
The popular market typically offers a lot entertainment options, including live music, performances, and games and activities for kids. Many restaurants also serve hot entrees and other food items. The survey asked if people would still be interested in attending with no prepared food, music, or entertainment.
The survey is available online and closes Friday. To answer the questions, click here.
